Local Priorities Shoplifting Message |
I wanted to provide you an update regarding Shoplifting, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Lee Green SNT were conducting CCTV enquires at the BP, Lee High Road, SE13 on the 13/01/2026 when they’ve been made aware of a potential shoplifter on shop floor. Officers managed to detain the Suspect prior to him departing the store. The Suspect was found in the possession of multiple products that have been returned to the venue. Police checks showed the Suspect was a prolific offender that was targeting local stores. The Suspect was arrested for multiple offences of shoplifting, breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order and Recall to Prison. He was later charged in police custody for the above offences and transported to prison. Shoplifting is a crime that can have a substantial negative impact on local businesses across London. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.

We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. | ||
